5 dead in missing tourist submarine

Landing frame and rear cover found in search for missing sub.

A “debris field” has been discovered in the search for Titan.

“A debris field implies a break-up of the submersible… that really sort of indicates what is the worst-case scenario, which is a catastrophic failure and generally that’s an implosion.

Mr Mearns had two friends, a British billionaire named Hamish Harding and a French submersible pilot named Paul-Henri Nargeolet, who were on a journey. Sadly, something terrible happened and his friends didn’t come back from the journey. In an emotional interview, Mr Mearns said that his worst fears had come true and he was hoping for a different result. He was very sad because he lost two of his friends.

The ROV reached the bottom of the sea using cameras and sonar. The admiral thinks that if the debris found was from the Titanic, the Coast Guard would have said so. He believes that the announced debris likely means that the ship called the Titan probably broke apart because of the strong water pressure as it sank.

Titan went missing in the Atlantic Ocean whilst on a dive to see the Titanic wreck. On Thursday, a deep-sea robot called Victor 6000 was sent to the search area. It can cut cables and release a stuck vessel, and can go deeper than the Titanic. Five people are on board, including Mr Harding and Mr Nargeolet, Shahzada Dawood and his son Suleman, and the founder of OceanGate. The US Coast Guard estimated that the air supply in the vessel would run out on Thursday. Multiple countries sent ships, planes and underwater craft to search for Titan in a remote area of the Atlantic Ocean twice the size of Connecticut State, in depths of up to 4,020m (13,200ft).
