Katonga Wildlife Reserve

Katonga Wildlife Reserve is located in the beautiful country of Uganda and was established all the way back in 1964. This incredible area was specifically created to help preserve and protect the local wildlife. Katonga Wildlife Reserve is home to an extensive array of different species, including majestic elephants, hippopotamuses, playful monkeys, graceful antelopes, and a wide variety of birds of all shapes and sizes. If you are lucky enough to visit, you will find that much of the reserve is dominated by wetlands, with permanent or seasonal rivers and swamps dotted throughout. Visitors are able to explore the area either on foot, by following the winding hiking trails, or by boat, taking a relaxing ride through the swamp to spot adorable animals like river otters. If you’re interested in even more adventure, overnight trips are available, however it is important to note that these trips are not offered during the rainy season. If you’re interested in touring the area, you’re in luck! African Pearl Safaris offers a range of tours to Katonga Wildlife Reserve and other popular tourist attractions located throughout Uganda.
