Karnataka: Soon, jungle safari to start in Cauvery Wildlife Sanctuary

The Cauvery Wildlife Sanctuary is situated in the Chamarajanagar district of Karnataka, and it has some exciting news for visitors. In the coming days, they will be welcoming visitors with an exhilarating jungle safari experience. The safari route will be located in Gopinatham, that falls inside the Cauvery Wildlife Sanctuary, which happens to be the birthplace of the notorious and slain bandit Veerappan, a man whose activities have kept tourists away for a long time.

However, it is heartening to note that the government is making serious efforts to promote eco-tourism in this region, and visitors can now take advantage of the Mystery Trail Camp, a riveting experience that takes visitors on a journey to locations that were once associated with Veerappan. Additionally, guests can also pay respects to the slain IFS officer Srinivas by visiting his memorial. To ensure everything is well and good during your trip, the Jungle Lodges and Resorts will be maintaining the trail.

The safari in Gopinatham will cover a distance of about 32 km, and visitors will get to view areas like Namdarihalla, Kurimande Camp, Erakeyam, Mailumalebetta, and the famous Hogenakkal Falls. The daily schedule of the safari is divided into two shifts, with one in the morning from 6 AM to 10 AM, and another in the evening from 4 PM to 6 PM, providing ample chances for visitors to enjoy this once-in-a-lifetime experience.

As per reports, the jungle safari ticket will cost INR 400 per person.

Things can get a tad bit difficult in terms of tourism and development for places with less-than pleasant past. The same is with the village of Gopinatham. Once this place was feared by all, no one dared to venture, but now the place has opened up to curious and interesting visitors.
