For foreigners, it costs $700 per person per trek, for residents, it costs $600, and for East African citizens, it costs $70. The permit lets you spend one hour with the gorillas in Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park or Mgahinga Gorilla National Park. Uganda has 17 gorilla families, so there are 136 permits available each day. You can also do a longer experience called gorilla habituation. This costs $1500 per person and lets you spend 4 hours with semi-habituated gorillas. You can book permits directly with Uganda Wildlife Authority or through a tour operator like Eco Adventure Safaris. However, the permit price doesn’t include accommodation, transport, meals, or other expenses, so make sure to check with your tour operator.
